Spirit Hotel Gran Bilbao, recognized as the coziest accommodation in Spain by Booking.com.

The Traveller Review Awards 2026 recognize Spirit Hotel Gran Bilbao for its hospitality and place Navarra among the most welcoming regions in Spain

Spirit Hotel Gran Bilbao has been awarded the “Most welcoming accommodation in Spain” according to the Traveller Review Awards 2026 from Booking.com, one of the most relevant recognitions in the tourism sector due to its direct connection with the real experience of travelers.

Booking.com has been awarding these prizes for 14 years based on real reviews from verified customers, honoring accommodations that best represent excellence in service and hospitality. Based on more than 370 million verified comments, the Traveller Review Awards have established themselves as a global reference for measuring the quality of the tourist experience from the traveler’s perspective.

To be eligible for them, establishments must achieve a minimum average score of 8 out of 10 and meet criteria of volume and recurrence of reviews, always based on ratings from travelers who have booked and actually stayed through the platform. According to Booking.com, terms like “welcoming,” “comfortable,” and “hospitable” are particularly important in this recognition.

The gala took place on April 8 at the Pinaquy Hall in Pamplona. During the event, Booking.com also recognized NH Hotels & Resorts as the most welcoming hotel chain in Spain, Pamplona Catedral Hotel as the most welcoming accommodation in Navarra, Teruel as the most welcoming destination in Spain, and Navarra as the most welcoming region in Spain, positioning it among the top ten most welcoming regions in the world.

At the award presentation, Booking.com highlighted the attention to detail at Spirit Hotel Gran Bilbao, its ability to turn each stay into a memorable experience, and above all, the role of its human team, which guests themselves mention in their reviews for their friendliness and professionalism.

Jorge Álvarez, CEO of Spirit Hotels & Apartments, thanked for the award and recalled that this recognition “does not respond to a specific job, but to a way of understanding the company built over the years”. During his speech, he emphasized that Spirit began in 2015 to focus on people so they, in turn, could better take care of customers, and he defended the role of the entire team, including those who have been part of the project in other stages.

Judit Segura, Corporate Development Director of Spirit Hotels & Apartments and third generation of the ownership, stressed that “putting people at the center is not a slogan, but a real way of working”. In her speech, she argued that when a company takes care of its team, that team takes better care of the customer, improves their experience, and also contributes to strengthening the positioning and results of the business.

This recognition reinforces the positioning of Spirit Hotel Gran Bilbao and acknowledges a specific way of understanding hospitality: a close, professional, and authentic attention, built from the daily care of people.
