A city with many centuries of history and even a prehistoric past. It would be very difficult to understand this evolution without visiting the best museums in Burgos. It is the latest addition to the list of Museums in Burgos. However, since its inauguration in 2010, it has managed to earn a prominent place in the city. Today, it is a must-visit for all tourists visiting Burgos for the first time. It is clear that Burgos needed an educational space focused on the incredible discoveries of the Atapuerca Sites. Even for the locals. Many times we don’t even know what we have at home.
The museum, designed by architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg, is divided into 4 floors. Each one addresses a different theme. The first floor is the most notable, allowing visitors to enjoy the most important fossil discoveries made in the last decades in the Atapuerca excavations. The second floor also attracts a good number of looks. It features 10 hyperrealistic reproductions of different human ancestors. They look alive! Here both children and adults enjoy themselves.
- » Hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:30 and from 16:30 to 20:00. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 10:00 to 20:00. Closed on Mondays.

We have to admit that we love it. Just a few meters from the Museum of Evolution and located inside the beautiful 15th-century palaces Casa de Miranda and Casa de Íñigo Angulo, this museum houses an important archaeological collection. The exhibition aims to reconstruct the historical and cultural evolution of the province of Burgos, from the Paleolithic to the present day.
